How I Ranked My Client's Wholesale Website for “Cadbury Chocolate NZ” on Page 1 of Google

As a digital marketer, there’s no better proof of SEO success than seeing your client’s website on page 1 of Google for a competitive keyword. Recently, I achieved this for a wholesale business in New Zealand, helping them rank at position 6 for the keyword “Cadbury chocolate NZ.”

Here’s exactly how I did it — from technical fixes to smart backlinks and content upgrades.

📌 The Challenge

My client runs a B2B wholesale platform in New Zealand, offering bulk chocolate and confectionery products, including Cadbury chocolate. While the brand had great products and pricing, the website was not showing up in the top results on Google — missing out on major traffic and potential B2B leads.

Step 1: Meta Title & Description Optimization

The first thing I tackled was the meta title and description for the Cadbury chocolate page. The original metadata was either missing or too generic.

I rewrote them to:

  • Include the keyword “Cadbury chocolate NZ”

  • Highlight the wholesale and bulk purchase angle

  • Make the copy appealing and click-worthy

Final Meta:

Title: Buy Cadbury Chocolate In Bulk | Wholesale Provider NZ
Description: We offer a wide range of Cadbury chocolates in wholesale quantities, including Cadbury Chocolate Block Turkish Delight, Curly Wurly & more. Bulk pricing available.

This made the page more relevant for both Google and buyers.

Step 2: Enhanced On-Page Content

Next, I updated the product page content to improve both clarity and keyword targeting.

Changes I made:

  • Added keyword-rich descriptions for Cadbury products

  • Included popular variations like Dairy Milk, Turkish Delight, Curly Wurly, etc.

  • Used FAQs and internal links to related categories like “wholesale chocolate” and “bulk lollies”

  • Ensured content was structured and readable

These edits helped the page provide value and relevance, boosting its chances of ranking.

Step 3: Built Relevant Backlinks

Good backlinks still matter — especially when done right. I built high-quality, relevant links using the following methods:

📌 1. Classified Submissions:

Posted business listings in top NZ classified platforms like:

  • NZClassifieds

  • FreeAds NZ

  • Locanto (New Zealand category)

📌 2. Social Bookmarking:

Submitted links to bookmarking sites like:

  • Reddit (NZ subreddits)

  • Mix

  • Scoop.it

📌 3. Article Submissions:

Wrote articles targeting keywords like:

  • “Where to buy Cadbury chocolate in bulk NZ”

  • “Top wholesale chocolate suppliers in New Zealand”
And posted them on free article directories, niche blogs, and medium-authority sites.

Each backlink:

  • Had relevant anchor text

  • Pointed to the main product or category page

  • Came from safe, spam-free sites

Step 4: Google Search Console & Tracking

Throughout the campaign, I monitored:

  • Search performance for the keyword “Cadbury chocolate NZ”

  • Click-through rates (CTR)

  • Page impressions and average position

This allowed me to refine titles, test variations, and identify content that worked best.

💡 The Result

Within a few weeks, the page started moving up the rankings.

Today, it ranks at Position 6 on Google, just below big retailers like Kmart and New World.

This shows how small-to-mid-sized wholesalers can outrank larger competitors by:

  • Focusing on intent-based SEO

  • Creating clean and helpful content

  • Building real, relevant backlinks

🏁 Final Thoughts

You don’t need a million-dollar budget to rank high on Google — you just need smart SEO. By optimizing the basics and building relevant links, I helped my client get visibility for one of New Zealand’s most searched chocolate brands.

If you’re a wholesale or B2B business in NZ looking to grow online, this strategy works — and I’d be happy to help you implement it.
